Draft Acceptable Use Policy

Unacceptable conduct includes:

  • Sending or forwarding chain or multi-level-marketing letters
  • Bulk unsolicited email or news posting
  • Forgery of email or usenet news postings
  • Harassing or offensive email
  • Any content on a web page that is obscene, illegal, defamatory or otherwise violates the User Agreement
  • Any activity that interferes with the normal operation of Chebucto Community Net
  • Using CCN resources to interfere with the normal operation of any other computer system
  • Gaining or seeking to gain unauthorized access to information resources

Rights of Users

Users have the right to expect:

  • To be treated equally and fairly.
  • Privacy of personal files. While there is no way to guarantee privacy on a system such as CCN, the privacy of electronic mail and other private documents will be respected as much as is practicable.

Sanctions

Users have the right to expect:

  • Written warnings
  • Temporary suspension of login privileges
  • Permanent suspension of login privileges
  • Loss of other CCN privileges
Users should keep in mind that their activities on CCN are also governed by Canadian law, and they subject to criminal and/or civil actions. CCN administration shall take whatever measures necessary to maintain the normal operation of CCN. CCN administration may remove any publically-accessible file without prior notice if:
  • It is believed that the existence of the file may lead to legal action against CCN.
  • The file interferes with the operation of CCN.
  • A user fails to remove material as directed by CCN administration.
